The Institute of Mental Health is a public medical institution that has been certified by the Joint Commission International (JCI) for hospital related practices. However, they are liable for regular audit to retain the certification. One of the areas of audit, would be the regular review and adherance of hospital policies to the JCI chapters. To ease the audit process, IMH consolidated the current document policy process to a Sharepoint system, to ensure that hospital staff can retrieve the latest policies from the system, without having to resort to email queries. Also, relevant forms and other policies are tagged within the system via metadata, so that the system can recommend other related or relevant policies. This also aids document controllers, as they are reminded to do the annual policy review, and to update the policies. JCI audits can also extract the data from within the system to ensure compliance.
